چکیده

Radiolabeled metaiodobenzylguanidine is an analog of norepinephrine used to localize tumors that express the neurohormone transporters, specifically those derived from the neural crest having a neuroendocrine origin. It is also used to treat non-surgical metastases derived from them. A review of the literature revealed symptomatic improvements associated to a decrease in hormone levels in a significant percentage of patients after I-MIBG treatment. However, complete tumor remission has been described only in very few cases and hardly ever when bone metastases exist. We present a case of a patient diagnosed of malignant pheochromocytoma who achieved complete hormonal and metabolic response after I-MIBG treatment (600mCi) in spite of the presence of bone metastases. © 2012 Elsevier España, S.L. and SEMNIM. Comparison of iodine-123 metaiodobenzylguanidine (MIBG) scan and [18F]fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography to evaluate response after iodine-131 MIBG therapy for relapsed neuroblastoma.

PURPOSE Children with relapsed neuroblastoma have poor survival. It is crucial to have a reliable method for evaluating functional response to new therapies. In this study, we compared two functional imaging modalities for neuroblastoma: metaiodobenzylguanidine (MIBG) scan for uptake by the norepinephrine transporter and [(18)F]fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (FDG-PET) uptake fo...

Comparing diagnostic performance of 131I-metaiodobenzylguanidine (131I-MIBG) and 99mTc-hydrazinonicotinyl-Tyr3-Octreotide (99mTc-HYNIC-TOC) in diagnosis and localization of pheochromocytoma and neuroblastoma

Introduction: The present study was aimed to assess the diagnostic performance of the two imaging methods of 131I-metaiodobenzylguanidine (131I-MIBG) and 99mTc-hydrazinonicotinyl-Tyr3-Octreotide (99mTc-HYNIC-TOC) in diagnosis and localization of pheochromocytoma and neuroblastoma. Advances in the diagnosis and treatment of pheochromocytoma.

Diagnosis and management of pheochromocytoma, once dangerous and uncertain, have been dramatically altered in recent years by advances in imaging, assays, and pharmaceuticals. During the past ten years we have treated 18 patients who had pheochromocytoma. Biochemical diagnosis was made in all patients by measurement of 24-hour urinary total catecholamine excretion or by epinephrine-norepinephri...

Asymptomatic Pheochromocytoma Associsated with Von Recklinghausen’s Disease (neurofibromatosis Type1): Case Report

We report a case of 50 years old male with neurofibromatosis complaining of recurrent attacks of right loin pain. Clinically , the patient was normotensive , his body was full of neurofibromas with cafe au lait patches (Fig. 1, 2 & 3). Catecholamine in urine was markedly elevated. No other endocrinological abnormality depicted. CT scan abdomen revealed presence of right adrenal mass 5.9X5.9 cm ...
